The fourth edition of the International Festival of Contemporary Ceramics ~ CAOLIN 2017 will take place from May 19 to June 4 in several reference spaces for the cultural life of Cluj and brings together international artists, potters, product designers and specialists in ceramic techniques.

CAOLIN 2017, an event organized under the High Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maria of Romania, is structured on two levels: one exhibition (fair, solo or group exhibitions of contemporary ceramics) and another interactive (demonstrations of traditional potter’s wheel creation, reconstruction of ceramic vessels, workshops of modeling and painting on ceramic objects, screening of a documentary film about ceramics).

Workshop on the reconstruction of ceramic vessels offered by 12 volunteers, students of the Restoration Department of the University of Art and Design Cluj-Napoca, under the guidance of ceramist Prof. Gil Turculeț

4. ETNOGRAPHIC PARK “ROMULUS VUIA” – VILLAGE MUSEUM (May 20)
Workshop and demonstrations of traditional pottery with public participation, with a theoretical introduction on the ceramic techniques of the Dacians, held by the renowned folk artist Daniel Leș.

5. THE FRENCH INSTITUTE – La Cave – lieu d’expression contemporaine (str. IIC Bratianu 22)
Personal exhibition Vasile Cătărău (May 19-21)
Vasile Cătărău (2016 laureate of the French Institute Prize at the UAD Expo Maraton) presents his installation POST INDUSTRIAL (ceramics/ metal/ plaster/ ready-made) in the new space of the French Institute – La Cave – dedicated to contemporary creation.

6. WINE NOTES – str. Moților 13 (May 20-21)
[CineCeramică] In a less conventional setting, a series of documentary screenings about artists, traditions and ceramic techniques are proposed, an event organized in collaboration with Tudor Baciu, the initiator of the Cinemobilul project.
